Ubuntu Phone is Available for Download in February

Great news for smartphone users, Ubuntu Phone System is available for download at the end of next month.

Last week, the publisher Canonical announced the launch of its Ubuntu Phone system which offers an alternative to Android, iOS, Windows Phone or BlackBerry OS. The system is characterized by a mainly centered around ergonomics gestures and a custom home screen.

The editor explained that they are talking with several distributors and OEM announced Ubuntu Phone is available for download in the “coming weeks.” Asked by the blog OMGUbuntu, Alan Pope, head of engineering at Canonical, said the system will be distributed for download at the end of February.

In our previous blog post on which we have published few days ago you could also see a video on which Canonical has demonstrated its OS, and for that purpose Canonical did use Galaxy Nexus smartphone which means that the holders of this Samsung smartphone should be able to install Ubuntu Phone. We can assume that Canonical wants to wait for the exhibition Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona from February 25 to 28.
