The Consumer Electronics Show 2013 will be held every year in Las Vegas and will allow the largest companies in the world to show all their innovations in technology . Someone jokingly renamed “nerd’s paradise”, but certainly the CES 2013 is a paradise for all those who are eagerly awaiting trendy gadgets.
What can we expect in terms of smartphones, mobile and phablet? At the moment we only know that a number of innovations that should be shown in Las Vegas have not yet been announced. Thanks to the rumor that run over the last few weeks we have an idea of what we might see soon.
We know that Samsung has a rather important announcement to make at CES 2013, but that probably will not have much to do with the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S IV, whether we like it or not. Instead, what we see is an overhaul of the brand: Samsung would be ready to “revise” its identity not to be perceived as a Korean company, but rather global.
A new re-brand almost certainly implies a change of logo. It is possible that the stage is presented something new for the occasion and according to the speculation could be the flexible AMOLED display, among whom there could be a 5.5-inch with 1280 by 720 pixel resolution. According to others, Samsung will also show another non-flexible Super AMOLED display for smartphones with full HD, size 5 inches with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, which could then be used on the Samsung Galaxy S IV. Finally, we could see the first smartphone running under Tizen.
Some item concerns the tablet, but the elements are just to confirm, they speak of a model 13.3-inch slate designed to simulate the Asus Transformer, it will come with a physical keyboard dock. The second tablet may be a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with the model name GT-N5100. The Android device has been spotted on GLBenchmark, the display has a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels and Exynos 4412 chip clocked at 1.6 GHz.
Sony is working on several new Android smartphone which are anything but a secret for months, but we do not know if they will be shown at CES 2013 or the company will wait for the MWC. We know that devices which will be announced are the Sony Xperia X and Sony Xperia Z with 5″ display, buy also the mid-range called Sony Huashan with specifications are not known for the moment.
HTC & NVIDIA
The four quad-core Tegra chip from NVIDIA will be commercially launched during the first quarter of 2013, so an announcement at CES 2013 in January seems very plausible. With its four core Cortex-A15 and 72-core GPU, the new SoC should be much more powerful than its predecessor without weighing on the battery. But still we do not know which device will debut.
When it comes to HTC we heard rumors about announcement of phone called HTC M7, which should become the flagship of the company with a 1080p display and chip Qualcomm S4 Pro. That’s why seeing the Tegra 4 in a HTC tablet is not out of the question, even if previous tablet the company did not have great success.
Recent rumors suggest that LG has a high-end Android smartphone in the making, with 5-inch display and 1080p chip Snapdragon S4 Pro. His announcement date is still unknown, but a passage of CES 2013 is not out of the question. Could it be the LG Optimus G2? At CES 2013 we will almost certainly be the new line of SoC that LG will bring to the market. The chip, based on Cortex-A15 paired with graphics Mali-T604 will be used to feed not only mobile devices, but also smart TV and other gadgets.
Huawei and ZTE
The two Chinese companies will bring interesting new products at CES 2013. Huawei will present at least a trio of cell phones, most notably of which is the Huawei Ascend Mate with a huge 6.1 inch display meant to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Despite the important technical features, it is likely to sell for less than $500.
Then we can expect the Huawei Ascend D2, another flagship phone with a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core processor, 13-megapixel main camera and 3000 mAh battery. The third phone is the Huawei Ascend W1, a Windows Phone 8 with 4.3-inch WVGA display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor at a low price.
ZTE will present the ZTE Grand S, also with a 5-inch display and 1080p, according to the company, it is the thinnest Full HD smartphone launched up to date with a thickness of only 7.6 mm. Further features are not yet known, but we could see a processor Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core and 13mp camera on the back.
If we are to believe the rumor, Asus will bring a pair of 7-inch tablets at CES 2013. One of these is the Asus ME172V, an Android tablet with fairly modest hardware specifications, such as a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and a low-end processor, but will be offered at a price of about $130. We may also see the Asus ME371MG, tablet with Atom processor, 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and a 3-megapixel camera.
Numerous tests reveal that Acer is working on a new low end tablet. The Acer Iconia B1, as it is called, is a 7 inch tablet slate with a modest 1.2 GHz processor. Specifications are not impressive, but the price certainly attract attention: it seems to be sold for less than 100 dollars.
Speaking of smartphones, at CES2013 we could see the Acer V350 and V360, both running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The first is the most powerful, equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon S4, and a 720p screen. The Acer V360, on the other hand, offers a 4.5-inch qHD display, dual-core 1 GHz processor and a 5 megapixel camera.
