Will 2013 be marked as ‘Year of Phablets’?

Whether the standard of gadgets, in 2013 will outrank that of 2012 standards? (Or) Will the standard continue to be the same? This is a thought, which seems to be prevailing in every gadget lover’s mind. There are many gadgets, which have been flown into the market, lately. One of them is ‘phablet’.

Phablet is a term coined by the developers who wanted to bridge the features of a smartphone and a tablet. Ideally, a phablet is supposed to have a 5-inch screen and the cost should be less than or slightly more than $199.

It is invented with an intention to let the users have the features of smartphone, tablet and a computer in a single device. The growing demand of phablet was recognized by many of the biggest manufactures and they came up with phablets, which were rivals to one another. For example: Samsung Galaxy Note, Dell Streak, Droid DNA and many more.

By the way, 2013 has started and users are expecting more from the phablet manufacturers. Let us have a look at what is expected to be in the lot, for the consumers!

Sony Xperia ZL

Sony Xperia ZL is a 5-inch tablet. This phablet is believed to be powered by 1.5GHz quad core SnapDragon S4 Pro processor, runs on the latest Android Jelly Bean and have 2 GB capacity of RAM.

Good news for multimedia enthusiasts! It comes with a rear camera of 12 Megapixels, which has the ability to capture 1080p videos. Also, you have a front facing HD camera. It is supposed to have an immovable battery.

Don’t worry about the connectivity. It supports NFC technology, LTE mobile connections, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Sony Xperia ZL is rumored to hit the mainstream in January, 2013.

Sony Xperia Z

There is not much difference between Sony Xperia ZL and Sony Xperia Z, except the fact that Sony Xperia Z lacks in LTE connectivity. You can expect the release of Sony Xperia ZL and Sony Xperia Z almost together.

ZTE P945

The features of the Chinese model ZTE P945, is not expected to be as impressive as Sony Xperia ZL & Sony Xperia Z. ZTE P945 is anticipated to be powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor and RAM capacity of 2GB. It has a rear camera of 8 Megapixel camera and 3000mAh battery.

It has a massive 5.7-inch screen, with 720p display. So far, these are the updates about this model that we have come across.

Huawei Ascend D2

Huawei has decided to venture the world of phablets, with its Ascend D2. It features a display of 1080p. Ascend D2 is powered by Huawei’s processor, 1.5GHz quad core K3V2 processor and it has 2GB RAM.

Huawei Ascend D2 has a 5-inch HD display, with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is expected to run on Android’s Jelly Bean. It is supposed to be available in the market by the end of the first quarter of 2013. However, we are not certain about it.

Of course, with the New Year there is an expectation that the standard of phablets will escalate. We cannot give any verdict, unless these models are launched and used. However, one thing is certain that phablets will make computing and calling experience great.
