Bug Blocks Updates for Some Microsoft Surface RT Users

Several users of the tablet Microsoft Surface currently experiencing an arising bug which blocks their Windows RT to receive further updates.

January 8, Microsoft has released a set of patches for the holders of the Surface tablet running Windows RT. However, after installing these updates, several users have noted a malfunction of their devices. Indeed they have noticed that they are no longer able to receive other updates via Windows Update module.

Betanews, which the information relates, explained that during the installation of patches released earlier this month, the tablets affected are entered into a Connected Standby mode and stopped the update process. This mechanism will not only create a blockage at the updated system but also those of Modern UI applications deployed via the Windows Store.

In his official forum, Microsoft recommends that affected users go into theĀ Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Windows Update > View All (available inside left pane) andĀ then double click on “Windows Update” option available at the bottom of All categories window. After that simply follow on screen instructions by clicking “Next“.

With problems concerning access to Windows Store, Microsoft has made available a small file which users need to run on their tablet.

Of course it is also possible to restore the tablet by accessing inside Modern UI Settings and then from left pane choose “General“. Next from right pane under “Remove everything and reinstall Windows” click on “Get started” button. Keep in mind that this operation will erase all data from your Microsoft Surface.
