How To Update Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 to Android 4.1.2 JellyBean

We talked a lot about Samsung Galaxy S3 and his smaller brother Samsung Galaxy Mini I8190 which has lower hardware specifications. However even tho his specifications are much lower than Galaxy S3, it will not stop him running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean. That is why today we will see how to apply the firmware update to Android 4.1.2 based on XXAMA2.

If you have not received notification of this update on OTA, you can follow this tutorial and update your Galaxy S3 Mini to official firmware Android 4.1.2 Jellybean that fixes several issues related to battery life and fixes bugs that forced the closure.

Step 1: Before you get started you will need to download two files on your computer:

Step 2: Unzip the files Odin3_v1.85.zip and I8190XXAMA2_I8190QXEAMA1_SER.zip and enable USB Debugging mode by following this tutorial.

Step 3: Turn off the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and put it in Download Mode. To do this you will have to press buttons Volume Down + Power + Home one at a time until you can see a menu which gives you the option to continue, then you have to press Volume Up.

Step 4: Start the program Odin3 which you previously downloaded on your computer and connect the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini to the PC via the original USB cable.

Step 5: If you have properly installed drivers, ODIN’s COM port should be yellow. If not, you’ll need to download Samsung Kies.

Step 6: Now you have to click on “PDA” button inside ODIN and select the file I8190XXAMA2_I8190QXEAMA1_SER.tar.md5 on your computer.

Step 7: Click on Start and the update process began. At this time the bar inside ODIN will be green as update process will finish in blue.

Step 8: The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will reboot and you will have official Android Jelly Bean installed on your device.

Step 9: To check your Android version number you have to go to menu Settings -> About device, and check the version of Android.
